2008 BCIT Graduate ReJeana Marigna named First Team All Star!
From the Burlington County Times By: REUBEN FRANK (Fri, Jun/20/2008)
ReJeana Marigna capped an outstanding career with a magnificent triple at the state Group 1 championships, winning the 100 in 12.15, the 200 in 25.69 and the 400 in 58.97. Marigna became the first girl in 12 years to win all three sprints at the state Group 1 meet, the first Burlington County girl in 21 years to win three events at a state championship meet and the first county girl ever to win a 100-200-400 triple on the state level.
Marigna also placed third in the high hurdles at states, and her 36 points single-handedly had Palmyra atop the team standings after 14 events. Palmyra finished third, just seven points behind Robbinsville.
Marigna, who attended Westampton Tech but ran for Palmyra because Tech doesn't have a track team, went on to become just one of three girls to medal in both the 100 and 200 at the Meet of Champions.
Marigna also doubled the 100 and 200 at the County Open. She swept the three sprints at the Freedom Division meet. Her 12.15 ranks eighth in county history.
Her six individual outdoor state titles (three in the 400, two in the 100, one in the 200) have been surpassed in county history only by Olympian Carol Lewis of Willingboro, who won seven from 1978 through 1981. Marigna became only the second county girl to win state titles in three different events. The other was Lillian Rivera of Pemberton, who won the Group 4 shot, disc and javelin in 1984.
